CCMS Theatre Arts
CCMS Theatre Arts (a.k.a. CCMS Musical Theatre), presented by Panther Partners, is a year-long after school program for Culver City Middle School Students. Each year, we've had 40-60 students, professional teachers, and a team of outstanding and committed parent volunteers who keep the program fueled.
In our inaugural year of 2010, we presented Darn Yankees! Directed and Musical Directed by Diane Feldman and Choreographed by Courtney Bradshaw, Darn Yankees! won 3 National Youth Theatre Awards and 7 National Youth Theatre Nominations.
In 2011, teachers Diane and Courtney were the creative force behind Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which sold out to packed houses and multiple standing ovations. Inspired parents and students created the video that led us to win a $10,000 Glee! Give-a-Note Grant to support music in public education. In December 2011, Glee! cast members Jayma Mays and Dot Marie Jones came to present the award to a cheering crowd of CCMS Middle School students and educators.
Our 2012 CCMS Theatre Arts offering is Comedy Improvisation, taught by professional improvisers Jennifer Flack and Eric Price. With over 53 strong, we are very excited to perform two sets of shows this year, February 4-5 and May 19-20.
"We are teaching life skills and creating strong community bonds," Feldman says. "There are many learning styles in our cast and each and every child has experienced how developing music, improv skills and fostering long-term commitment can build self-esteem, team work and most importantly, social and emotional strength."
We are looking for committed parents who want to ensure quality arts education in our school. Please join us in firming up our Musical Theatre and Improv Program offerings for 2013. For questions or comments, contact Diana Kunce at dkunce@mac.com or Bonnie Wacker at Bonniewacker@yahoo.com
